MAIN BENEFITS OF PERFORMANCE MENTORING
We provide life-changing support on your exercise journey to a healthier you.
The support and guidance sets us apart from the traditional personal trainer or fitness coach.
The mentoring programme, developed by Andy Bourne, is based upon his insight from researching exercise motivation and adherence. And from working in the fitness sector for over 3 decades and representing GB in swimming and triathlons.
Andy’s mentoring experiences in swimming, triathlon and business are second to none. As an accredited European Mentoring & Coaching Council Master Coach he has a record of success in both sport and business, and indeed in life. On two occasions, he won his age group European Standard Distance Triathlon and recently he sold his company, Xpect Leisure for £3m. He has 2 adult daughters, 4 grandchildren and lives with his wife Mel and their 3 dogs in the New Forest.
Andy explains, “We ask you to determine your specific and measurable exercise goals and this provides us with a direction of travel at the outset. As your mentor, we will provide the psychological support, and indeed kindness, to leverage your personality traits and strengths to boost your self-confidence to maintain the new habits you are forming.”
“We’ve found that how people view themselves has a significant influence on whether they will start and adhere to an exercise programme. Despite being successful in other aspects of their life, some people have low self-esteem levels and view themselves as incompetent without ever trying to exercise. We overcome this by focussing on a future hope, and this often provides the motivation to exercise. At all times, we reinforce that your exercise programme is worthy and beneficial.”
“You may need to unlearn some previously held beliefs which you may be sitting in your sub-conscious. As your mentor, we help you create new habits and feel good about achieving your definition of success.”
Andy’s mentors nurture a change in mindset by using the knowledge they have gained from years of experience of working with people and from achieving success in their fields.
The mentors are caring and empathetic, as well as invested in your personal wellbeing and growth. You can be reassured that they will be there for you to provide encouragement and to keep you on track.
Andy says, “It’s so fulfilling seeing people grow in confidence, introduce exercise into their daily regime and go on to lead healthier lives.”
The passion of the mentors is to support people like you. They speak the truth and offer constructive feedback about your decisions.
Mentoring Styles
They use a combination of 3 basic ‘helping styles’:-
- Telling – direct instruction
- Advising – offer alternative options and different solutions
- Counselling – help you to find solutions to your challenges
Andy states, “Every individual has God given gifts and talents that can make a lasting impact, however, only a minority of people utilise these attributes to live up to their full potential. Our mentors help to tie your gifts and talents with a sense of personal purpose with exercise leading to a more enjoyable and rewarding life.”
